When Epic is not running it also opens the Epic webpage, as well as start up the launcher.

EPIC GAMES LAUNCHER BLACK SCREEN UPDATE

It's possible they have released an update to stop this and the issue I'm having is technically different to the one you had, or I just did more different methods to find where the issue is.Įven if I have Epic completely shut down, exited, and all that. My specialty is game play.īesides, I play off-line (I believe it called) meaning no server, no MP. If I've not had the problem and if the problem has not been posted here, I have no clue. Thank you for the explanation as I'm woefully uneducated when it comes to "code." I could solve it by just telling Steam to launch at windows start, but I don't like to have ANY programs launch at startup.

So I only get the weird Epic launch issue on those rare instances where my PC was restarted without my knowledge (windows updates does that overnight sometimes). To me it's not a big deal.I mostly always have steam running, and pretty much never have the Epic launcher running unless I'm playing a game on that platform. Like the game executable looks for that first.which is weird. It appears to be tied to the Epic launcher being installed, and only that. And the original poster here indicated that, though they own the Epic version, they have NEVER had it installed. I uninstalled the Ark Epic version the day I bought the steam version, so that's not it. Maybe it altered Steam's ability to open only it's version?Īnd that seems like what is happening here. I'm wondering if you uninstalled the Epic and the ARK Epic version would that help the Epic override of Steam. I've never even once installed ARK on the epic store i just claimed it as a free game and that was it. I am not only not signed into the Epic launcher, I don't even have it running. For me, if Steam isn't running at all, it will LAUNCH the epic launcher when I try to run the game.

EPIC GAMES LAUNCHER BLACK SCREEN SOFTWARE

That has been my assumption, btw.that the Epic version left some registry entries behind when I uninstalled it.which is super common for software to do. And that's just one example of what could be responsible, completely independent of the executable itself. There could be a windows registry section for the game, for example, and with the Epic version also installed that registry entry could be responsible for calling out to the Epic Launcher. Programs when installed are about more than just that executable. I don't think you understand how installations work if you think it "shouldn't effect it".

exe and not the other one, i feel like it's just lazy coding making the game have to manually detect which version you're trying to run and sometimes failing to do so but to begin with i wasn't even signed in on the epic store. Originally posted by Shinigati:Yeah i do have the Epic store version but that shouldn't really affect it considering when you launch a game on steam it has to load that specific.
